The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday stated that the victory achieved in the Battle of Ayacucho, which consolidated the region's independence, proves that the unity of Latin American countries is required to advance towards progress.

"Peru and other sister countries must consolidate democracy, freedom, and independence," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

During her speech at the ceremony marking the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho, she stated that "this feat sealed our independence and was a demonstration of the broadest unity on our continent."

"The unity of all countries is required to achieve great feats," said Mrs. Boluarte, who considered this to be one of the lessons learned from the aforementioned historical episode.

The Head of State noted that countries in the region must "facilitate governance and governability, as well as ensure that all citizens are equal before justice and the law."

"States must foster development and stop being obstacles that prevent citizens from making progress," she said, also advocating, in this context, that "the rules of the game be respected and stable."

Stability to grow

Regarding Peru, the top official stated that her government "extends its hands and heart to unite us in a single embrace and desire to continue building a free and fair Peru, with equality and fairness."

"There is no authentic independence if the economy is weak or subordinated to external powers or limited in its growth by permanent instability, threats, and political extortion," she added.

Therefore, Mrs. Boluarte said, "a stable country is not threatened by the constant changing of the rules of the game and by unfair attacks."

At the beginning of her speech, the president indicated that her participation was planned, along with several ministers and representatives from the embassies of countries in the region, in the Battle of Ayacucho Bicentennial Ceremony that took place in Pampa de Quinua, in that Andean region.

However, "the vagaries of the weather prevented us from doing so," she said.

The ceremony took place at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
