on Monday announced the incorporation of business guilds into the National Citizen Security Council (Conasec) with the aim of joining forces in the frontal fight against delinquency and organized crime.
This was stated during a meeting with representatives of business associations at the Lima-based Government Palace, where the commitment to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to combat crime was reaffirmed.
"The legal framework for formalizing this integration will be discussed at the next Council of Ministers' session," Mrs. Boluarte announced.
At this gathering, measures to improve public safety infrastructure were discussed, such as the construction of more prisons and police stations across the country.
To achieve this goal, the President highlighted the Works for Taxes mechanism as a key tool, as it allows entrepreneurs to contribute directly to this purpose.
Likewise, the Head of State stressed that infrastructure improvement must be accompanied by greater logistical resources for the Peruvian National Police.
The top official also stated that the Executive Branch will promote improvements in the legal framework to ensure that those who commit criminal acts serve their sentences and do not return to the streets.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Juan Jose Santivañez (Interior), Jose Salardi (Economy-Finance), and Eduardo Arana (Justice-Human Rights).
Representing the business sector were National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) Chairman Alfonso Bustamante, Peruvian Chamber of Construction (Capeco) Chair Jorge Zapata, National Society of Industries (SNI) Head Felipe James, Peruvian Association of Exporters (ADEX) Vice-President Rafael del Campo, along with other guild representatives.
