Peru and the
have agreed to implement policies that promote the transition to clean energy in the Asia-Pacific region.
This collaboration was strengthened during the first Senior Officials' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 2025, held in Gyeongju, South Korea.
The agreement reflects Peru's interest in maintaining strategic ties with the OECD, within the framework of its accession process to the organization.
During a
meeting involving Peru's Senior Official to APEC, Ambassador Renato Reyes; Minister of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic, Victor Muñoz; and OECD Representative Deger Saygin, the OECD affirmed its support for implementing the instrument on clean and low-emission hydrogen, a key achievement of
APEC Peru 2024.
The instrument, driven by Peru, contributes to strengthening the forum's cooperation agenda and consolidates the country's leadership in sustainable energy within the Asia-Pacific region.
Green hydrogen is positioning itself as one of the most promising clean energy sources in the short term.
Permanent Collaboration
The agreement with the OECD reaffirms Peru's strong commitment to advancing its accession to the organization.
Additionally, it underscores the continued and valuable collaboration with the OECD, which has provided crucial support to Peru since 2023 in defining priorities and designing the Lima Roadmap, approved at APEC Peru 2024.
