Peru is preparing to showcase its enormous geological potential at one of the most important mining events in the world, the annual mining convention organized by the
, to be held in the city of Toronto, Canada, from March 2 to 5.
Energy-Mines Minister Jorge Montero,
who will head the Peruvian delegation together with his Economy-Finance peer, Jose Salardi, has the responsibility, along with more than 350 high-level executives, 100 mining companies, and leading suppliers, of promoting Peru as an attractive destination for investment and mining exploration on the international stage.
"According to the latest report from S&P Global, Peru remains in the top 10 of the main destinations for exploration investment," Montero stated.
"We want to consolidate ourselves as one of the leading destinations for mining investment globally, strengthening our position as a key supplier of critical and strategic minerals essential for the energy transition," he added.
The Cabinet member noted that our country is currently the world's third-largest copper producer and second-largest global zinc producer, and has a portfolio of 75 exploration projects with an estimated investment of US$644 million.
"The Government plans to boost the construction of 15 large mining projects in the coming years," he pointed out.
The Peruvian delegation will follow a busy agenda of activities, including "Peru Day," a space aimed at promoting the development of Peru’s mining and energy sector with a strategic approach to promoting investment, sustainability, and conflict resolution.
The participation of the Energy and Mines Ministry in PDAC 2025 has among its objectives: promoting new sustainable mining projects, diversifying opportunities, strengthening international alliances, integrating local suppliers, and positioning itself as a leader in sustainable mining.
It is important to note that, in the long term, the Peruvian presence at PDAC is projected as a key platform to strengthen its global leadership in mining, attract greater investments, and promote the development of a mining industry that is sustainable, innovative, and committed to the well-being of communities and the environment.
