The
President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte, and her counterpart from the
People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, participated in the opening of the Multipurpose Port Terminal of Chancay, located some 80 kilometers north of Lima and built by the Chinese State-run company Cosco Shipping.
From the Lima-based Government Palace, the Peruvian President initiated operations of the Chancay Megaport, which aspires to become a new regional trade hub.
Built with a US$1.3-billion investment, this infrastructure will attract the largest container ships and reduce maritime travel time to China by 12 days.
