The government ordered the strategic deployment of Army machinery across the country and appointed a minister in charge of each affected region to strengthen the response to heavy rainfall, Defense Minister Luis Arroyo stated.

The high-ranking official stressed that one of the pillars of the response is the use of heavy equipment from the Peruvian Army.

Such equipment has been positioned at key points across national territory to address hydrometeorological emergencies.

"Army machinery is strategically distributed across the country to respond immediately to rising river levels or possible overflows, ensuring a permanent response capacity," he emphasized.

In that regard, the Cabinet member said the Executive Branch's strategy combines on-the-ground political leadership with operational deployment to address the emergency.

Within that framework, the minister underscored the importance of the direct presence of authorities in affected areas.

"The President of the Republic has designated one minister in each region to coordinate directly with local authorities," he underlined.

The minister added this decision allows for immediate coordination with regional and municipal governments to channel assistance and optimize the emergency response.

Multisector coordination

Minister Arroyo said the response brings together various Executive Branch sectors, including the Ministries of Transportation and Communications, Housing, and the National Water Authority (ANA), along with Armed Forces deployment.

The aim is to ensure timely and targeted action aligned with the scale of each event.

Lastly, he reaffirmed that the presence of an Executive Branch representative in each region strengthens technical and political management of the emergency.

This enables swift on-the-ground decisions and more efficient assistance for affected families.
