Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday affirmed the Inca country will achieve the expected development, as long as it fights corruption frontally.

Thus, the Head of State called on civil society to join efforts towards this objective.

During the High-Level Anti-Corruption Commission session held at the Government Palace, the statesman stressed said efforts must be undertaken by all sectors.

Likewise, the top official noted governance and the fight against corruption must be included in a roadmap.

"I want you to give us the necessary and sufficient time to see how we go from theory to practice, from discourse to specific procedures," Mr. Vizcarra expressed.

"We are convinced that we will not be able to achieve the development we are looking for, if we do not fight corruption frontally (…). There can be no development with corruption," he said.

According to the President, the fight against this scourge is one of his administration's pillars.

As is known, Peru hosted the 8th Summit of the Americas last week, which adopted the Lima Commitment: Democratic Governance against Corruption.
