President Martin Vizcarra has been designated Honorary President of the Peruvian Scouts Association.
During a ceremony held on Monday night at Lima-based Government Palace, the Head of State received the group's distinctive neckerchief and badges.
In his speech, the statesman noted the scouts' decades-long close work for the environment and its protection.
"They have shown that teamwork, and helping each other out to overcome challenges is a practice that always delivers good results," he expressed.
Furthermore, the top official recalled he had been part of the scouts as a child while residing in Peru's southern Moquegua region.
"I'm happy that you are here. I want to motivate you to continue with these goals, objectives, and the way you see life," he added.
