"The voice of the people is the voice of God. That is what we, as democrats, say. On July 28, 2024, the Venezuelan people expressed their will at the polls, and the (electoral) records, recognized worldwide, confirmed the election of Edmundo Gonzalez as their legitimate President," she stated.
In this context, the Head of State called on the Organization of American States (OAS) and international organizations to contribute to Nicolas Maduro's illegitimate regime relinquishing power and allowing the Venezuelan people to recover their freedom.
"We call on the Venezuelan people not to give up. We ask that Mr. Edmundo Gonzalez assume the Presidency and that Mr. Nicolas Maduro learn to accept defeat in an election," she stated.
Moreover, the Head of State referred to the recent inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump, to whom he extended an invitation, with the aim of strengthening diplomatic, commercial, and economic ties between both nations.
"I hope that President Trump will look at Peru with the same interest that it already arouses in other countries around the world, since, thanks to responsible management in the economic, political, and social spheres, Peru has established itself as the country that offers the best prospects for foreign investment," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.
Lastly, the top official recalled that Peru and the United States maintain a solid relationship thanks to the Free Trade Agreement, which has been in force for over 15 years.
"Now we want to further strengthen this fraternal bond between two sister nations, the United States and Peru, hand in hand with President Trump," she concluded
Remarks were made during a media briefing after participating in the High-Level Segment with Latin American Leaders and Stakeholders: "Addressing Latin America's Faultlines."
This session was held at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
