On March 11 and 12, the Peruvian capital Lima hosted the 18th edition of
SAHIC Latin America & The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Forum.
The event, which has gained a reputation as one of the most effective platforms for generating business related to the tourism sector, brings together the most important players in the hotel development industry.
Over the course of two days, the forum will include the participation of more than 250 people, including investors, representatives of investment funds and financial institutions, hotel entrepreneurs, and public officials from various countries.
"We are aware of the benefits that foreign direct investment brings to the country; so, we reaffirm our strong interest in the development of proposals and strategies that may allow strengthening the flow of investments in Peru," Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Mathews remarked.
"We know the tourism sector and, especially, the hotel industry is of vital importance for the economic development of the region. Therefore, we will continue working to provide the necessary conditions for a safe investment in our territory," he added.
Another PromPeru's goal at the 18th edition of SAHIC Latin America & The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Forum is to promote the investment opportunities that the Peruvian market offers in the tourism sector through the development of major connectivity works.
"Currently, two important projects are being developed for the positioning of Peru in the international connectivity network. These are the construction of the Port of Chancay, north of Lima, and the expansion of the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Callao," said Angelica Matsuda, PromPeru's Executive President.
"These mega works will in turn be a catalyst for investments linked to the hotel sector and to the meeting and conference tourism, as we anticipate they will contribute to the substantial growth of the business and tourist flow to Peru," she added.
This is the third edition of SAHIC Latin America & The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Forum that is hosted by Peru.
