The
President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Wednesday strongly condemned the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise.
The Head of State conveyed this message on his official Twitter account.
"I express my condolences and solidarity with the people of Haiti in this difficult moment," Mr. Sagasti remarked.
"These events that mourn our region must not go unpunished," he said.
Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph announced that Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated Wednesday at his home by a commando,
AFP reported.
In addition, Joseph said he was now in charge of the country.
