Peru's Tony Succar gets second 2019 Latin Grammy, named best producer

Peruvian musician, singer, songwriter, and producer Tony Succar on Thursday evening won his second 2019 Latin Grammy of the day, taking the prize as "Producer of the Year."

The official Latin Grammy website highlights Succar's productions, such as "Amante Del Amor" (Raul Stefano), "El Alacran" (Eric Chacon & Tony Succar), "El Ritmo De Mi Corazon" (Gian Marco featuring Grupo 5 & Tony Succar), "Imprevisto" (Jazz Orchestra Roots, Pablo Gil & Tony Succar), "Tonada De Succar" (Eric Chacon & Tony Succar), "Vai La Vai La" (Tony Succar featuring Marcelo Amaro, Tuti & Nelson Arrieta) and "Mas de Mi" (Tony Succar).

Best Salsa Album

Earlier, the 33-year-old won in the Best Salsa Album of the Year category for his creation known as "Mas de Mi."

At the awards ceremony, the artist dedicated his triumph "to all Peruvians around the world" and thanked the artists who participated in the album production.

"I love you, Peru!" said the Latin Grammy winner, while also thanking his family and Peruvian musician Gianmarco Zignago.

In the Best Salsa Album category, "Mas de Mi" (Tony Succar) competed with "Cuba Linda" (Maite Hontelé), "55 Anniversario" (Mario Ortiz All Star Band), "Mi Luz Mayor" (Eddie Palmieri), and "Nuestro Hogar" (Quintero's Salsa Project).

The winner's speech had an emotional moment, when Succar remembered his grandfather.

"I want to dedicate this award to my 94-year-old grandfather, who could not be with me today but has given me everything in life," said the musician in a broken voice, which led to a round of applause.



The event takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the U.S. city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
