The United States on Wednesday pledged to work with those who are elected in the presidential elections to be held in Ecuador and Peru, whose citizens will go to the polls this Sunday, April 11, amid the social and economic deterioration caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Via Twitter, Acting Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Julie Chung, expressed today Washington D.C.'s desire to work with the one to succeed current Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno, who has governed the country since May 2017.

April 11 will be an atypical electoral mega day in Latin America due to the elections in Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia.

Chile was also going to hold elections on April 10-11. Nonetheless, it has decided to postpone them due to the large number of COVID-19 infections.
