Within this framework, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) will set up 3,151 polling stations
overseas.
According to the electoral registry, the Peruvians qualified to vote in the North American nation amount to 290,755, whereas they total 132,348 in the South American country.
These are followed by Spain (131,341), Chile (101,431), Italy (85,166), Japan (32,282), and Venezuela (22,419).
In this sense, ONPE Head Manuel Cox indicated these nations record the majority of
Peruvian electors abroad, thus representing a challenge since —in some cases— citizens are more numerous than the population of a whole region in Peru.
Peruvian citizens living overseas amount to 907,839 specifically in: the Americas (611,459), Europe (256,033), Asia (34,734), Oceania (5,335), and Africa (278).
Furthermore, the countries registering the fewest voters are Ghana (2), Kuwait (3), Macedonia (5), Haiti (7), and Viet Nam (10).
