16:44 | Washington (U.S.), Sep. 20.

The Peruvian Embassy in the United States received a group of entrepreneurs of the United Fresh Produce Association interested in learning about the Inca country's economy and the Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA) signed between both nations.

Peruvian Ambassador Hugo de Zela welcomed the delegation and underlined the efforts undertaken by the Embassy in order to promote bilateral trade.

Likewise, he noted the success of agricultural companies, which helped Peru position itself as the second-largest exporter of asparagus, avocados, and blueberries in the world.

Afterwards, the Embassy's Economic Department gave a presentation on the economic context of Peru, the priorities of its agricultural sector, and the results obtained 10 years after the TPA came into force.

This showed the Andean nation's strength as trade partner, the significant growth of its agro-exports to the United States, as well as the potential to continue increasing its participation in the market and boosting other products.

Lastly, representatives of the U.S. Department of Agriculture shared their view on the benefits of the TPA, underlining the cooperation provided to Peru in the field of capacity building, regulatory policies, and modernization of food security.
