Peruvian Prime Minister Walter Martos on Wednesday affirmed that citizens need their authorities working united.

"It is a moment of national unity, because the country needs it," he expressed.

As the Cabinet chief remarked, in the face of such a dramatic moment as the one that the country is experiencing —due to the coronavirus pandemic— the only way to concentrate efforts to fight COVID-19, reactivate the economy and have an orderly transition, is with the unity of the authorities.

Under that premise, the high-ranking official thanked the support of local and regional authorities.

Remarks were made during a meeting with representatives of the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE), the Network of Urban and Rural Municipalities of Peru (Remurpe) and the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR).

The event took place at Lima Convention Center.
