Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Wednesday reported that 2,252,030 vaccines against COVID-19 have already been administered nationwide.

Within this framework, the high-ranking official affirmed that the vaccination process has a positive impact, since there is a reduction in new cases and deaths of health personnel.

At a press conference, the Cabinet chief indicated that immunization against coronavirus is progressing steadily throughout the national territory, which gives confidence and hope to overcome the crisis caused by the pandemic.

"So far, 2,252,030 vaccines against COVID-19 have been administered in the country; of these, 1,520,248 have been administered to people as the first dose and 731,782 as the second dose. We are approaching one million fully vaccinated citizens," she stressed.

A week ago, the Cabinet member indicated that weekly batches consisting of 700,000 doses would arrive in Peru this month. This will make it possible to meet the goal of immunizing all older adults nationwide before President Francisco Sagasti's term in office comes to an end (July 28, 2021).
