The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed that his administration continues working for the nation because Peru cannot be stopped by the COVID-19 pandemic or political issues.

"With or without a pandemic, we continue working; we do so because Peru can't stop or can't be stopped, not even for political reasons. We have said that we would continue working and we are doing so," he expressed.

The top official arrived in the northern province of Morropon accompanied by authorities from the State-run Commission for the Formalization of Informal Property (Cofopri) and Piura Region, as well as parliamentarians for a working day that allows meeting the population's demands.

"We have to work together, united; let's not get distracted by banal things. Peru has so many problems, so we can't become distracted by sterile discussions, let's look at the future of the country here where Peruvians truly need investment," he said.

The statesman also participated in the inauguration of an irrigation dam and the delivery of checks to executing centers for the maintenance of hydraulic infrastructure. Said works will lead to creating jobs.

Before the authorities, he offered S/7 million (about US$1.976 million) in funding for the technical study of La Maravilla dam and pledged the development of a project for Morropon to rely on a wastewater treatment plant.

"Let's work together hand in hand until the last day of our Government on July 28, 2021. We will continue working hard to make Peru a country offering progress and development for the benefit of all Peruvians," he concluded.

According to an Ipsos-Peru poll, the top official's approval rate stood at 60% last August.
