President Castillo: We will work for health of Peruvians no matter what

09:20 | Lima, Oct. 20.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo has affirmed that his Government will continue to prioritize health and thus save the lives of Peruvians.

Mr. Castillo's remarks were delivered on Tuesday evening at the inauguration of the High-flow Oxygen Therapy Center for COVID-19 patients at Lima-based Arzobispo Loayza Hospital.

He noted that the high-flow oxygenation room was not brought from abroad but was developed by the hospital staff themselves, who connected pipelines to each bed.

According to the President, this equipment will prevent COVID-19 patients from needing to be transferred to an ICU bed and will be useful not only during the pandemic but to assist the population in the future.

"Health is vital for the lives of Peruvians. We will continue to work on it no matter what for the sake of the homeland. We will continue to take action, to prioritize health, and to save the lives of citizens, even if we have to beg for budget from other sectors," he affirmed.

The Head of State stressed the importance of making sure people understand that lives and health of Peruvians come first and that this applies for all, "no matter if they voted for you or not, or if you do not like them."

"Peru belongs to everyone, health is for everyone," he stated.

In addition, the Peruvian leader noted that he feels committed when he meets with good people who put their determination, career, and spirit at the service of the country.

During the event, the top official was accompanied by Health Minister Hernando Cevallos.
