Peruvian Ayacucho-born Biviana Challapa grabbed the first spot in the initial stage of the prestigious gastronomic event known as
thanks to her chuño-elaborated dish called "Trilogia de Tecctes" (Trilogy of Tecctes), the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) stressed on Monday.
The international competition —aimed at
women— was created by Le Cordon Bleu Hotel School in France and seeks to make them visible in the world of cooking at the highest level.
This contest has three stages. The first was held in Ayacucho, the second will be hosted by Lima in February, the third —and final stage— will take place in France.
La Cuillère d'Or will consist of two categories: cooking and pastry. Also, in both categories, there will be professional and amateur levels.
This competition has become one of the most internationally-renowned gastronomic events, and its main feature is that it grants a leading role to the figure of the female chef.
Biviana's dream
In this regard, her next goal is to implement a gastronomic corridor in Ayacucho, so that more people can learn about her history and culinary talent.
"With the motivation from my colleagues and promoters, I decided to reignite my passion for traditional cooking (...) being part of economic empowerment was a wake-up call for me because I did not trust myself before, but now I am aware of what I can achieve," the gastronomic event winner pointed out.
Following the decision that changed her life, Challapa participated in development sessions of personal, social, productive techniques; business management; and financial education developed by specialists of
MIMP's National Program for the
Prevention and Eradication of Violence Against Women and Members of the Family Group (Aurora).
