In the first two months of 2021, Peruvian exports totaled US$7.362 billion —an amount 4.4% higher compared to the same period in 2020— the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) has reported.

This result was mainly driven by shipments of copper, gold, and fresh grapes, the business guild highlighted.

Adex specified that mining was the most important sector with US$3.968 billion, despite contracting 5.6% due to lower demand for copper and gold. Traditional fishing followed, with US$524.74 million and an important expansion of 142.8%.

For their part, hydrocarbon shipments totaled US$370.56 million (-9.3%) and those of the agricultural sector reached US$55.73 million (+7%).

The most important destination of the traditional supply was China (US$2.308 billion), which increased its orders by 32.1%, followed by Canada (US$370.75 million; +5.7%) and Japan (US$361.91 million; +38.2%).

Next come India (US$342.81 million; +12.4%) and Switzerland (US$284.45 million; -6.8%), among others.
