Peruvian Ambassador presents copy of credentials to China's Foreign Affairs Ministry

09:40 | Beijing (China), Mar. 20.

Ambassador Marco Vinicio Balarezo Lizarzaburu has presented the copy of credentials that accredit him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to China.

Moreover, the Peruvian Ambassador to China held a meeting with Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of China's Foreign Affairs Ministry Cai Wei, in which they discussed strengthening the link between the two countries.

In this regard, Balarezo highlighted the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Free Trade Agreement between both nations, which have served as the basis for the development of such link.

The Peruvian envoy stated that the South American country has been making great efforts in the organization of the annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, which will take place in Peru next year.

Furthermore, he said Peru addresses —as a matter of priority— the eventual official visit and participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the leaders' meeting.

Balarezo remarked that Peru is very interested in continuing to strengthen bilateral ties with China in the political, economic, cooperation, tourism, education, culture, social affairs, health, as well as science and technology fields.

In this regard, he noted that China is Peru's main trading partner and that Peru is —in turn— the recipient of significant Chinese investment.

Finally, Directors General Hong Lei and Cai Wei stated that Peru and China are important partners and agreed that the bilateral relationship has developed in all areas, adding that the greatest efforts will be made to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

They also affirmed that the Government of China is fully willing to cooperate with Peru in the difficult situation faced by various regions that have been heavily hit as a result of Cyclone Yaku.
