Peru's soccer coach: We will be prepared for triple Qualifier games

14:54 | Lima, Apr. 19.

Coach Ricardo Gareca on Monday affirmed that the Peruvian national soccer team will be ready to face three games in a row at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers, adding that they are in a position to leave the penultimate spot behind.

More enthusiastic than usual, the Argentina-born coach assured that the national squad will be prepared to face the future matches, which he expects to be scheduled on three dates in a row following the stoppage of the process due to the second COVID-19 wave affecting South America.

"We will be prepared. We are all in the same situation. I don't see it as a problem. I think the players will be fine in general (…)," Gareca expressed.

"With these three matches, I would have no inconvenience. You have to see the whole problem with the clubs. I think that there are possibilities to set dates in the year 2022. Talking about that is a little shallow. What we have to face must be faced," he added

The expert also confirmed that on April 27 he must present the list of players for Copa América 2021, which will be held in Argentina and Colombia.

"We have to present that list on April 27. We were informed that we must have a list of 50 players," he indicated.

On the other hand, the coach said that the Red White team's first objective is to start winning at the Qualifiers, unlike during past games.

"The national team has to start step by step, having winning as a first step and, as the matches go by, seeing where it is going (…)," Gareca expressed.

"The national team can achieve triumphs and come out of that uncomfortable spot. We are in a position to improve, and I am confident in our recovery. We did not think we would have only one point after four matches; that was not in our heads," he concluded.
