The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday said that she will tell the truth about what happened in Peru during the protests that have been taking place in various regions before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) of the Organization of American States (OAS), where she was invited to participate on Wednesday.

"Tomorrow, I will make a presentation before the OAS to report the truth. The Peruvian Government —particularly (President) Dina Boluarte— has nothing to hide," the Head of State remarked.

"I have always spoken the truth, looking directly at my brothers and sisters. 50 people have been killed in these acts of protest. It hurts me as a woman, mother, and daughter; it hurts. Tomorrow, we will tell the truth before the OAS," she added.

Mrs. Boluarte stated that the Government extended an invitation to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and received a delegation from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for them to be informed of the events that have occurred in recent weeks.

"We all want to know the truth," the country's top official pointed out.

The President will participate virtually in the Protocolary Session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), to be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (Peruvian time).

On the other hand, the Head of State reiterated her apology to the population after being informed of the deaths of Peruvians during nationwide demonstrations.

"I apologize for those deaths because it does hurt. It hurts even if it is one life that is lost, and this should have not happened," she said.

The top dignitary made those remarks during a press conference with members of the Peruvian Foreign Press Association held at the Government Palace in Lima.
