Peru's President recognizes National Environmental Award winners

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday led the recognition ceremony for the winners and honorable mentions of the 2020 National Environmental Award.

"Thank you for promoting a culture of environmental responsibility in the country," the Head of State expressed.

At the virtual event, the statesman called for awareness about the essentials of restoring a balance between human beings and ecosystems.

"Nature never left. Today, it is back in the way we act," he said.

Furthermore, the top official saluted representatives of the winning experiences and honorable mentions.

"These initiatives, which we recognize today, help to reestablish the balance that reminds us of the motto: Nature is back," he added.

Mr. Sagasti also stressed that there are Peruvians who seek innovative solutions in harmony with nature in order to develop sustainable opportunities that improve populations' quality of life.

"Let's respect our environment," he emphasized.

During the ceremony, the President was joined by Environment Minister Gabriel Quijandria.
