The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday called on healthcare workers to form a single force in order to ensure medical care for the most vulnerable, especially those affected by the cold weather.

Remarks were made during a ceremony to ratify the agreement for employment stability of workers in the health sector, which took place at the Government Palace in Lima.

In his speech, he said that the country cannot move forward without health care or education.

Moreover, the Head of State remarked that attention to families affected by the cold weather is one of the most urgent actions that need to be taken.

In this regard, Mr. Castillo reiterated that he will not be distracted by issues raised by groups that have another type of agenda.

"We cannot move forward without education, without health care. They are two essential factors and must become the fundamental pillars of development," he stated.

"What sense does it have to vindicate teachers, to pay them well, if there are malnourished children? We will not move forward this way. So, let us stay together and form a single force with the Education sector," the top dignitary pointed out.

Additionally, he proposed a working meeting with health professionals from northern, eastern and southern macro-regions in order to take concrete actions in favor of families waiting for the response of the Government to the cold spell, as is the case of the Ticlio Chico area in southern Lima.
