The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte has revealed that the Peruvian National Police reform process will make it possible to promote technical cadres and agents committed to the institution, the fight against citizen insecurity, and corruption.

"Corruption, inefficiency, and infamous manipulation of our institutions must be left behind and proscribed, as their purpose has been to cover up fugitives from justice, in the highest spheres of power," she stated.

Mrs. Boluarte made these remarks on Wednesday while welcoming the Peruvian Navy Ship (BAP) Carrasco crew, who participated in the 29th Scientific Expedition of Peru to Antarctica (ANTAR XXIX).

Moreover, the Head of State said that confrontation and political maneuvers seeking to destabilize institutions and democracy must be left behind, noting that this is a purpose which requires the support of everyone.

"Peru will continue to build its future in a democracy, through dialogue, as well as with social inclusion and equality. We will continue to face the ravages of nature and will undertake large infrastructure works to create jobs and revive our economy," she stressed.

On the other hand, the dignitary indicated that Peru will continue to consolidate its active and permanent presence in Antarctica, within the framework of the National Antarctic Policy, which aims to protect our interests and rights on the White Continent.

Antarctica is the continent of the future, the President said after stressing the need to safeguard its biodiversity and natural resources, particularly its climate and freshwater reserves, which hold 77% of the world's total reserves.

The BAP Carrasco vessel left the Port of Callao on January 19, 2023, with 73 Navy crew members, 20 Army members, eight representatives of the Air Force, eight scientists from different universities, and two representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on board, in order to carry out logistical and scientific tasks.

The ceremony marking the arrival of BAP Carrasco featured Defense Minister Jorge Chavez, Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Gervasi, high-ranking members of the Armed Forces, and relatives of the crew members who embarked on the scientific expedition.
