Peru's President: Eradicating corruption is a major task

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday led the second session of the Council for Reform of the Justice System.

This entity seeks to reach consensus on how to redesign the reforms that promote substantive changes for the benefit of citizens.

During the meeting, the Head of State affirmed that a central task is to eradicate corruption, as well as to promote ethical values in citizens and public officials, prevent misconduct by judges and prosecutors or the commercialization of justice.

He also called on officials to administer justice in a reasonable, equitable, fair, and efficient manner.

The virtual event was attended by Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez, Justice and Human Rights Minister Eduardo Vega, Congress Chairwoman Mirtha Vasquez, Judicial Branch Chair Elvia Barrios, Attorney General Zoraida Avalos, National Justice Board Chair Ines Tello, Comptroller General Nelson Shack, and Ombudsman Walter Gutierrez.
