Peru's President arrives at OAS headquarters to attend Permanent Council session

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo is already at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington D.C. (U.S.) to participate in the Session of the Permanent Council.

Upon arrival, the Peruvian top official was received by the Secretary-General of the aforementioned hemispheric organization, Luis Almagro.

Thus, the Head of State continues his visit to the United States, where he is slated to attend a series of official activities in Washington D.C. 

After his arrival at the OAS headquarters, the President of the Republic and the Foreign Affairs Minister proceeded to participate in the Session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Later, at 12 p.m. (local time), the Peruvian leader will meet with the President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC), Suzanne Clark; the President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AmCham Peru), Luis Rivera; and AmCham Peru Executive Director Aldo R. Defilippi.

According to the presidential agenda, at 1:30 p.m., Mr. Castillo will meet with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Director Carissa F. Etienne at the headquarters of the Peruvian Mission to the OAS.

On the other hand, at 3 p.m., the Head of State will meet with representatives of national unions affiliated to the National Society of Industries.

Finally, at 6:55 p.m., President Castillo will fly to New York City, where additional official activities will be held.

Activities in New York

On September 21, at 8:30 a.m., the Peruvian top official will be welcomed by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, at the headquarters of such agency in New York.

Afterwards, at 3 p.m., the Head of State will attend the High-Level General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

On the Peruvian President's last day in the United States, the presidential agenda includes meetings with World Bank Group President David Malpass and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Mauricio Claver-Carone at the Peruvian Embassy in New York.

Finally, Mr. Castillo’s first overseas trip will end after meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, also at the Peruvian Embassy in the above-mentioned city.
