Peru's President and OAS head address closing of gaps, respect for democracy

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo and Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro on Wednesday discussed the closing of gaps and respect for democracy —during a meeting held in New York City.

According to the Twitter account of the Presidency of the Republic, this gathering took place within the framework of the Head of State's official activities at the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the strengthening of multilateralism to reduce social gaps was addressed, as were dialogue as an instrument for conflict resolution, respect for democracy and governance, for a true sustainable development in the region.

As is known, the city of Lima will host the 52nd General Assembly of the OAS to be held on October 5-7, 2022.

The Peruvian Head of State has been on an official visit to the United States since September 18. He arrived in New York City to participate in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

The official delegation is also made up of Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Kurt Burneo (Economy-Finance), Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism), and Rosendo Serna (Education).
