Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Friday affirmed that the vaccination against coronavirus will be permanent in Peru, as she assured that there will be no impediments to access the right to inoculation.

"The vaccination will never be closed, nor will there be any impediment; for example, if a citizen lost his/her ID card, that will not become an obstacle," she expressed during her visit to the Social Health Insurance System's (EsSalud) National Telemedicine Center.

Furthermore, Bermudez reiterated that she is working with the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status' (Reniec) roll, which offers more up-to-date information. She added that the schedule and the new vaccination plan will be presented in detail next week.

Moreover, the Prime Minister highlighted that —in four months— the Transition and Emergency Government increased the number of ICU beds and oxygen plants.

In this sense, the government official recalled that when President Sagasti's administration took office in November 2020, its members had found less than 1,500 ICU beds. "Nonetheless, we have 1,000 more ICU beds," she stressed.

The same happened with oxygen plants, the dignitary continued.

"When this pandemic began, there were only nine oxygen plants. In November, the number rose to 63, and there are 169 today (…)," she concluded.
