Peru's Pflucker wins IMSA Prototype Challenge race, emerges as championship favorite

15:00 | Bowmanville (Canada), Jul. 12.

Peruvian driver Rodrigo Pflucker secured a convincing victory in the fourth round of the IMSA Prototype Challenge race at Canadian Tire Motorsport in the Canadian State of Ontario, with teammate Austin McCusker.

Pflucker —who is registered in the Peruvian Automobile Sport Federation's (FDAP) records and is one of the Peru Brand ambassadors— got to the top of the podium, along with co-driver Austin McCusker, waving the Peruvian flag at the Canadian event.

Driving the No. 47 Norma M30, the duo established themselves as the championship favorites with just two races remaining.

The next race and penultimate round of the 2019 season will take place at Virginia International Raceway during the Michelin GT Challenge race weekend Aug. 23-25.

"This is my first win at IMSA, so it is very special," Pflucker said.

"This is an internationally renowned championship with so much tradition. It is an honor and motivation to achieve this result. We keep leading the points. Therefore, we have to remain focused, with the same consistency we've shown so far, and compete in an intelligent manner, which is leading us to win the championship," he added.
