Peru's non-traditional exports volume grows 14.3% in Oct 2018

The volume of non-traditional exports increased 14.3% in October 2018, compared to the same month last year, thus marking 24 months of continuous growth, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) has informed.

According to INEI's Technical Report on Evolution of Exports and Imports, this outcome was underpinned by greater exports from the farming sector (+30%). 

Likewise, it was boosted by higher sales of blueberries (+53.1%), grapes (+110.5%), asparagus (+1.8%), as well as ground, crushed, and sliced paprika (+190.4%). 

Furthermore, the fishery sector registered greater transactions of giant squid and cuttlefish (+48.8%), as well as mollusks (+8%). 

Total exports 

On the other hand, the volume of total exports expanded 6.7% between January and October this year over the same period in 2017. 

Whereas, it slid 0.6% in October 2018, compared to last year. 

The top export destinations were China (+26.6%), the United States (+17.1%), Spain (+6.1%), Brazil (+5.6%), and Japan (+4.2%).
