The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the coming entry into force —set for January 29— of the agreement between the Republic of Peru and Japan, to avoid double taxation in relation to income taxes, as well as to prevent tax evasion and avoidance.

Within this framework, the Peruvian ministry informed that this agreement will stimulate the growth of investments from Japan to Peru and provide legal security to investors.

Likewise, it will allow both countries' tax authorities to rely on an efficient mechanism to avoid international double taxation with respect to income taxes, thus fighting international tax evasion and avoidance.

To date, Peru has eight agreements of this type in force with the following counterparts: the Andean Community, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Korea, Portugal, and Switzerland.
