Ex-First Lady Lilia Paredes on Wednesday participated virtually in the pre-trial detention hearing over the alleged felony of criminal organization and others.

The event was led by the Eighth National Preparatory Investigation Court in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

The Prosecutor's Office requests 36 months of preventive detention for the wife of ousted ex-President Pedro Castillo.

The request also includes her brothers David and Walter Paredes.

As is known, Lilia Paredes is currently in Mexico with her minor children, where they were granted political asylum.

At the virtual hearing, Paredes spoke to provide her personal data. However, she avoided giving information about her current address, limiting herself to indicating that she is in Mexico City as a political refugee.

Rescheduled hearing

Judge Raul Justiniano, Head of the Eighth National Preparatory Investigation Court, declared the hearing to assess the request for pre-trial detention of Lilia Paredes and her brothers installed.

He also ordered the rescheduling of said hearing for March 27 at 10:00 a.m. (local time) at the request of the defendants' defense, as new documents have been submitted to support the prosecutorial request.
