Peru's elections: Elections board guarantees absolute respect for citizens' votes

National Elections Board (JNE) Chairman Jorge Luis Salas on Saturday affirmed that this institution is committed to transparency and respect for citizens’ votes during the general elections scheduled for April 11.

"Voting means a citizen's expression of patriotism (…). Tomorrow, all voters will be heroes of the country's transformation process," he told RPP radio and TV station.

In this sense, the official indicated that electoral institutions will guarantee the safety of this transformation, since they work transparently.

"The National Elections Board is committed to absolute transparency and absolute respect for the power of voting," he said.

"Tomorrow, we must go to vote, especially, young people must be present in order to fulfill their role. Tomorrow is a day that will means the country's transformation," the JNE Chairman stated.
