09:01 | Lima, Oct. 8.

The designation of Julio Emilio Velarde Flores as Governor of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) has been made official by the Executive Branch.

Thus, the experienced economist will serve his fourth consecutive term in charge of the issuing bank.

The announcement of Velarde's continuation in the post was made on Thursday evening by the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on his official Twitter account.

In the same statement, the Head of State mentioned that he has designated Roxana Barrantes, Jose Tavara, and German Alarco as members of the Central Bank's Board.

As a matter of fact, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on Tuesday pointed out that the resolution ratifying Julio Velarde as Governor of the Central Bank, as well as the ones designating the new members of its Board, were signed last Friday (October 1).

In a statement released on social media, the PCM noted that said resolutions were submitted to the Presidential Official for the corresponding procedure.
