The inoculation of people aged 60-64 years against COVID-19 will start on May 31 at vaccination sites set up in Lima and Callao,
Deputy Public Health Minister Gustavo Rosell announced on Tuesday.
"The vaccination of 60–64-year-old individuals will start on May 31. Everything is ready to include them in the
"Pongo el Hombro" (I Lend a Shoulder) platform. It is just a matter of organization, so as to avoid crowds at vaccination centers because, unfortunately, many people skip the queue," Rosell pointed out.
In this regard, he emphasized that people in this age group will be able to check the place, date, and time of their vaccination starting next week.
Noting that the inoculation of people aged 70 and over will be completed on May 19, Rosell explained that the process for people aged 65-69 living in Lima and Callao will begin on Friday, May 21, and that details on their scheduled appointment are now available on the above-mentioned platform.
The government official estimated that it will take 9 days to vaccinate 362,000 people aged 65-69 who live in Lima and Callao, and other 9 days to inoculate 442,000 aged 60-64.
"It is important to remember that individuals aged 70 and above are being administered the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine simultaneously," the deputy minister emphasized.
"All this has been well planned, considering the vaccines and capacity limits at the vaccination sites," he added.
