Peru still has great moral reserves to achieve development

10:19 | Lima, Jul. 13.

President Martin Vizcarra on Friday affirmed Peru still possesses great moral reserves to achieve progress and development and confirmed his Government will continue working firmly to improve health and education services.

His remarks were made as he introduced the regulations governing the comprehensive financial compensation and payment policy for State health workers.

In his speech, the Head of State called on health professionals to do their best when taking care of patients.

"Health is my Government's top priority, providing care for professional health specialists that return results to the population, and that bolsters our optimism (…) Peru still possesses great moral reserves to achieve progress and development," he stated.

According to Vizcarra, placing emphasis on three sectors like basic sanitation, health, and education will lay the main foundations to become a developed nation.

Making efforts to invest in infrastructure is possible —he said— but all our efforts are temporary and useless to reach our goals without solid foundations.

"Needs exceed budgetary possibilities significantly. We always have to prioritize (…) if we had a generous national budget, we would meet every need. However, order has to be established, and we'll always prioritize health and education," the statesman noted.

To get to know these needs —he explained— ministers travel across the country to inspect people's health and education conditions in situ.
