Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra on Monday participated —along with other Foreign Ministers and high representatives of the American States— in the Third Hemispheric Ministerial Conference on the Fight against Terrorism held in the Colombian city of Bogota.
The objective of this two-day meeting was the discussion and adoption of joint measures that will contribute to the
fight against terrorism under a comprehensive approach, which considers all the variables of this complex problem such as: the proliferation of extremist ideas, the relationship of terrorist groups with organized crime, and the identification, as well as neutralization of its funding sources.
As a result of this meeting, the participating countries issued a joint communique, in which the Peruvian commitment to this initiative for peace and security in the hemisphere was ratified.
The proposal for Peru to host the next Ministerial Conference was also included in the message.
Held as follow-up to conferences held in Washington D.C. (2018) and Buenos Aires (2019), the event saw the participation of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, United States, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Saint Lucia.
