Peru's regional exports amounted to US$15.612 billion in the first half of 2018, thus expanding 20.1% over the same period in 2017, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia informed.
Minister Valencia pointed out 17 Peruvian regions saw increases in their
shipments in the Jan-Jun 2018 period.
The most outstanding regions were Loreto (+111%), Pasco (+91%), Cusco (+83%), Lambayeque (+44.9%), Moquegua (+43%), Piura (+34%), Ancash (+28.9%), Ayacucho (+22.8%), Ica (+17.9%), Amazonas (+16.6%), and Arequipa (+16.2%).
Puno (+9.7%), La Libertad (+8.1%), Junin (+3.6%), Madre de Dios (+3.2%), Cajamarca (+0.4%), and Apurimac (+0.1%) stood out as well.
Markets
Furthermore, regional exports arrived in 121 markets being
China, the
United States, and India the main destinations.
Said shipments accounted for 52% of total
regional exports, the minister highlighted.
According to Valencia, 11 regions exceeded US$500 million in exports over the aforementioned period. They were Arequipa, Ancash, Ica, Piura, Apurimac, La Libertad, Cusco, Moquegua, Puno, Cajamarca, and Junin.
