Peru: Protocols for travel agencies, tourist guides, and hostels approved

16:02 | Lima, Jul. 3.

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) on Friday approved the COVID-19 health protocols for travel and tourism agencies, tourist guides, and hostels.

The sectoral protocols were approved by respective ministerial resolutions published in El Peruano official gazette.

The resolutions state that the implementation of Phase 3 of the reopening of economic activities, including tourism, begins with the entry into force of Supreme Decree 117-2020-PCM at the national level —except in Arequipa, Ica, Junin, Huanuco, San Martin, Madre de Dios, and Ancash regions, which have reported an increase in COVID-19 cases and remain under mandatory social isolation.

In addition, it indicates that —according to the above-mentioned decree— entities, companies, legal persons or executing cores must comply with the technical requirements —laid down in the "Guidelines for health surveillance, prevention and control of workers at risk of exposure to COVID-19"— before resuming activities.

Likewise, they must adhere to the sectoral protocols once issued by preparing a "Plan for surveillance, prevention and control of COVID-19 at work," which must be available to customers and workers, as well as to competent authorities for review.

The respective supreme resolutions were signed by Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez.

On Thursday night, the Mincetur head urged Peruvians to resume activities with a high level of responsibility, by following preventive measures such as the use of face masks, hand washing, and social distancing, as well as the protocols for the tourism sector.
