Peru: Prosecutor's Office requests 36-month pretrial detention for Keiko Fujimori

18:23 | Lima, Oct. 19.

Peru's Public Ministry has requested 36-month pretrial detention for opposition leader Keiko Fujimori for an investigation known as the "cocktails" case, local media informed on Friday.

A similar request was made for other 10 people including Jaime Yoshiyama, former Fuerza Popular opposition party's Secretary-General, and Augusto Bedoya, ex-leader of Fuerza 2011 —Fuerza Popular's former name.

According to El Comercio newspaper, Fujimori's advisors Vicente Silva, Ana Herz, and Pier Figari have been included as well.

At the moment, no statements have been made by the Public Ministry.

As is known, the prosecutor in charge of the case, Jose Domingo Perez, had until Friday to request a preparatory investigation to the Judicial Branch.

The measure could be reviewed by judge Richard Concepcion, who ordered —on October 10— preventive detention for the former presidential candidate.

As is known, Alberto Fujimori's daughter and the party under her leadership (Fuerza Popular) are being investigated for allegedly laundering campaign contributions for the 2011 and 2016 presidential elections.
