17:46 | Lima, Mar. 29.

President Martin Vizcarra on Sunday sent a message of encouragement to all Peruvians in the face of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

For doing so, he posted a video in which prominent athletes Natalia Malaga, Paolo Guerrero, and Gladys Tejeda come together to back the same call for hope.

In a message broadcast on his social networks, the Head of State affirmed that "we will all play this game. We will overcome this challenge together and emerge stronger than before. Come on Peru!"

Broadcast by President Vizcarra himself, the video features prominent former volleyball player and coach Natalia Malaga, national soccer team captain Paolo Guerrero, and Olympic athlete Gladys Tejeda completing the quarantine in their respective homes and asking Peruvians to place the national flag at their homes.

"My house wears the national colors for those Peruvians who are outside giving everything for my country," Malaga expressed.

"My house wears the national colors, too. I invite you to do so," Tejeda said.

"We will overcome this together, people. When our country comes together, it can achieve incredible things," Guerrero stated.

The video concludes with a message by Natalia Malaga: "Be strong Peru, we will get through this."
