Peru President: We will lay foundations for development in Bicentennial

10:33 | Celendin (Cajamarca region), Jan. 14.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday said the work articulated among local, regional, and central government authorities will lead to laying the foundations for the development all Peruvians deserve with a view to the Independence Bicentennial in 2021.

While inaugurating the Chacanto Bridge, which connects Cajamarca and Amazonas regions, the Head of State requested authorities to continue working in a coordinated way on projects in favor of social development.

"There is much to do, but by working together hand-in-hand with the population, we will continue to improve and manage —by the Bicentennial— to have laid the foundations for the development all Peruvians deserve," he expressed.

The top official stressed that his administration works in a decentralized manner and that this year it has been working —since the early days— with governors and mayors.

"We have to develop the works that are required for: sanitation, drinking water, integration, and road improvements. We need social works, as well as to improve the health and education (sectors)," he added.

The working formula —he said— involves mayors, governors, and ministries for the development of the population, thus delivering works for the benefit of those who require them.

On the occasion, President Vizcarra was accompanied by Ministers Walter Martos (Defense) and Edmer Trujillo (Transport and Communications), as well as regional authorities.
