Peru President urges prosecutors to ask thorough questions in Brazil

10:17 | Lima, Jan. 21.

President Martin Vizcarra urged Lava Jato case prosecutors —who will visit Brazil to interrogate Odebrecht officers— to "ask about everything" in order to find all the people responsible for corruption acts.

According to the Head of State, the Public Ministry is in the final stage of reaching a collaboration agreement with the construction company. Thus, the Executive Branch will wait for the process to conclude and respect it

"The Public Ministry is in the process of finding the truth and all the corrupt people who have worked with Odebrecht (…)," the top official told Latina TV channel.

Likewise, he mentioned the statements of Odebrecht's officers should be taken in the first half of March.

In his opinion, this is an opportunity to change the idea that there is selective justice in the Inca country.

"I urge (the prosecutors), with the Public Ministry's independence, to be completely thorough when collecting the information involving all the culprits," the statesman stressed.

Furthermore, President Vizcarra indicated it cannot be possible that some people took large amounts of money when Peru is a country that has many needs.

"The full force of law is required," he said.

The Head of State also recalled the majority of Peruvians consider it is important to continue fighting against corruption

"Here, you have a President who will fight alongside the population and against corruption," the top official underlined.
