18:00 | Lima, Jun. 20.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday urged parents to collaborate with the national vaccination campaign against measles, rubella, and poliomyelitis that will go house-to-house in order to achieve the goal of 5 million children vaccinated under the age of 5.

In this sense, the Head of State recalled the investment destined for this initiative is worth S/32 million (around US$9.60 million).

Likewise, he pointed out 2.8 million children were vaccinated in the first two weeks of June.

"We ask families to make an effort and collaborate, since we will carry out the vaccination campaign in these two weeks. (…) Health personnel will go to your homes in order to reach out to all the boys and girls and allow them to have this protection," the top official expressed.

Moreover, President Vizcarra highlighted the octagons on packages that warn the population about each edible product's nutritional characteristics, with the purpose of promoting a responsible diet in the country.

Remarks were made at Lima-based Government Palace.

President Vizcarra was joined by Ministers Zulema Tomas (Health) and Carlos Oliva (Economy and Finance) on the occasion.
