Peru: President travels to Piura after 6.1-magnitude earthquake

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday afternoon traveled to Piura region following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the country's northern area.


This event was held at the Army Headquarters in Lima's San Borja district.

During the ceremony, the top official was informed about the strong earthquake. Thus, he ordered the implementation of a series of immediate actions.

In fact, the President left the event to visit Piura with the aim of urgently attending to the emergency caused by this natural phenomenon, but not without expressing gratitude and appreciation to the Armed Forces and National Police of Peru.

On this occasion, he was joined by Prime Minister Guido Bellido and Defense Minister Walter Ayala.
