Peru: President Sagasti receives second COVID-19 vaccine dose

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday received the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 at the facilities of the Central Military Hospital located in the capital city of Lima.

"I have just received the second dose against COVID 19; the vaccine is the best weapon to fight the disease," he stressed after being immunized.

On February 9, the Head of State received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine as part of the inoculation process that had begun that same day in the South American country —following the arrival of the initial batch of 300,000 doses purchased by the Republic of Peru from the Chinese laboratory.

Precisely, this new inoculation took place within the framework of the beginning of the administration of second doses to health personnel from hospitals in Lima and Callao with the aim of guaranteeing the effectiveness of said vaccine.

As is known, the second batch of COVID-19 vaccines (700,000 doses) from Sinopharm landed in Peru on February 13.
