President Martin Vizcarra on Monday affirmed the confidence motion —recently introduced by the Executive Branch to Congress— strengthens democracy instead of weakening it.
The Head of State ruled out the
measure proposed last Sunday might affect democracy or the rule of law, as some Fuerza Popular (opposition party) members have suggested.
"On the contrary, the confidence motion request was made under strict respect for the Constitution, and that strengthens the democracy all Peruvians must respect," he expressed.
Last week, Fuerza Popular decided to abstain in the voting process of the CNM reform project, which prevented its approval.
